Ultrasound Helped My Fibromyalgia

I bought this product because I was familiar with the benefits of ultrasound from previous physical therapy sessions. My deductible on my insurance is much too high now to get the "professional" treatment available from a physical therapist, so I purchased this product to use at home. I have been very pleased with all aspects of my purchase.

First of all, the unit is sleek, light, well-made and durable. And the medicated lavender infusion gel is far better than any other plain conductive gel. There are easy-to-read instructions and customer service is just a phone call away. I had a question about treating more than one body area at a sitting and whether this would adversely affect the unit. I got to speak to a friendly and knowledgeable "real person" right away (which is not common these days with frustrating recordings that offer no service).

I considered this purchase as a long-term investment in my health, and that it was a bargain if it performed as stated. I have not been disappointed. I have fibromyalgia and myofascial pain, and a couple of old injuries from bumping around in life. Ultrasound increases blood flow and stimulates healing. This unit is well worth the money and does the job.

In my search for an ultrasound I investigated different companies. No matter who I spoke with at MendmeShop, they were informed, articulate, and I knew they would be there if I had a problem. I used it for my Fibromyalgia. I was concerned because the home ultrasounds are much less intense as far as what you get at the Chiropractor, but this worked great. The gel is expensive but I don't think I will be able to use the cheap stuff after the great relief I felt with the Ultrasound and Gel. The gel left me feeling soothed, and a cooling sensation. The relief and cooling sensation lasted a long time. So super happy with this product. I am considered a very bad case for Fibromyalgia, so this is a huge deal to have any relief. Thanks!

I must say I am very pleased with the results I have achieved so far with the MendMeShop ultrasound unit. I have received ultrasound in the past and it helped greatly. However, it was time consuming and rather inconvenient. I am glad I found your company and I am now able to use ultrasound from home. I have been using the device since June to treat knee osteoarthritis and a previous meniscus injury. Prior to purchasing the ultrasound, I suffered from rather significant pain on a regular basis. It was difficult to do every day activities such as grocery shopping and gardening. Now, after a few weeks of using ultrasound, I am able to do those activities plus I am even square dancing. I feel that your ultrasound unit is helping me regain a more normal and pain free life.

I purchased your ultrasound device and gel several months ago. I have used it as prescribed regularly with outstanding results. Several years ago, while playing football as a quarterback, I received a meniscus injury to my left knee. I have had physical therapy steroids, other drugs and natural medicine which helped for a time but the pain kept returning. I received a brochure through the internet. Purchased the device and used it regularly. During a x-ray review of my knee, I learned that the meniscus increased in thickness. Six months ago I was experiencing a bone on bone situation. The last x-ray showed the space between the bone increased to 3.25 mm, relieving the bone on bone and hence the pain I was experiencing. Thank you so much for letting me know of the device.

Please accept my warmest compliments on the courtesy and professionalism of Deb and Mallory. In the last few days, I have been researching portable home ultrasound devices and consequently spoke with a good number of representatives from a broad spectrum of competitors. I can attest that none of them were nearly as helpful and courteous as Deb and Mallory. These two ladies answered all my questions cheerfully and were a great help in providing all the information I needed. Consequently, I chose to make my purchase through your company. You can be justifiably proud to have such sparkling professionals as Deb and Mallory on your team. I look forward to telling others about my outstanding experience with your company, and wish you, and especially Deb and Mallory, every future success.

Fibromyalgia: Treatments

How can fibromyalgia be treated?

Unfortunately, at this point, there is no known cure for fibromyalgia. All sufferers can really do until a cure is discovered is to treat their symptoms, as best they can.

The following have shown to be beneficial in treating the pain of fibromyalgia:

  • NSAIDs (Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs)
  • Anti-depressants
  • Physical therapy
  • Exercise/stretching
  • Counseling/group therapy
  • Cooling the painful areas
  • Heating the painful areas
NSAIDs

NSAIDs are meant to relieve pain and inflammation, however the effects are mild to negligible in terms of managing fibromyalgia pain. Additionally, using NSAIDs on a continual basis is expensive, and can lead to unpleasant and potentially harmful side effects.

Anti-Depressants

In small doses, certain anti-depressants have shown to be helpful in managing pain and helping the fibromyalgia sufferer sleep. Additionally, they can help to modify the mood of the sufferer if he or she is feeling depressed due to the constant pain.

Physical Therapy

Physical Therapy is known to do well in relieving the pain of fibromyalgia. However, physical therapy treatments can be inconvenient- they are expensive, plus you have to take time out of your busy life just to go to the physical therapist's office.

Exercise/Stretching

Exercise and stretching on your own and at your own pace are great ways of staying fit, relieving stress, and taking control of your life. Be careful though- too much exercise or too little exercise can actually cause fibromyalgia flare-ups. As long as you know your limits, exercise and stretching are fantastic ways to deal with fibromyalgia.

Counseling/Group Therapy

For any difficult condition, it helps to be heard and understood. Going to a fibromyalgia support group or seeing a counsellor should help to lift your spirits and let you know that you're not alone. This will help keep you motivated and also help keep you from depression.

Cooling the painful areas

Cooling an area with an ice pack helps to numb the nerves and dull pain. This has shown to be effective help for many fibromyalgia sufferers. Beware, however- while cooling has been useful for some fibromyalgia sufferers, the coldness can actually cause acute fibromyalgic pain.

Heating the painful areas

Gently heating a painful area has proven itself as an excellent and effective method of soothing the irritating and persistent pain of fibromyalgia. Heat, through a process called "vasodilation" (or, blood vessels relaxing), causes fresh blood which is rich in nutrients and oxygen to come to the heated area. Heating, through a hot bath or hot pack, is considered one of the most effective methods of soothing fibromyalgia pain.

The Inferno Wrap™

MendMeShop Inferno Wrap for Fibromyalgia

We recommend this product as the most effective in soothing the pain of fibromyalgia.

The Inferno Wrap is a remarkable breakthrough in heat therapy treatment. Using innovative Blood Flow Stimulation Therapy, the radiant energy used by the Inferno Wrap gently heats and relaxes the treated area. It's safe, comfortable, and feels great! The Inferno Wrap is made to provide a snug, comfortable, and flexible fit. The built-in Energy Web (the part of the Wrap which the radiant energy is emitted from) is also flexible, and contours to the curves of your body.

The MendMeShop Therapeutic Ultrasound Unit

The MendMeShop Ultrasound Unit

MendMeShop's signature product, the portable and easy-to-use Therapeutic Ultrasound Unit is a great tool to add to your fibromyalgia pain treatment arsenal. The device uses high frequency sound waves to gently heat the treated area, which achieves the same sort of effect as the Inferno Wrap. Ultrasound treatments require the use of special ultrasound conductive gel. MendMeShop provides another signature product, the innovative Lavender Infusion Ultrasound Gel- this contains natural, pain relieving, anti-inflammatory ingredients. Through a process called phonophoresis, the pain relieving attributes of the gel's ingredients are transmitted into the treated area. The gentle heating of the ultrasound treatment, along with the phonophoretic delivery of pain relief from the gel, makes the Therapeutic Ultrasound Unit an effective treatment of fibromyalgic pain.

The "Freezie" Cold Compression Wrap

Freezie Wrap Knee Wrap
Freezie Wrap for the Knee

Please note: About one third of all fibromyalgia sufferers experience an extreme sensitivity to cold, to the point of pain. If you're suffering from fibromyalgia, try using a regular ice pack or bag of frozen peas to test your sensitivity before purchasing a "Freezie" Cold Compression Wrap.

The "Freezie" Cold Compression Wrap is one of the best cold treatment tools on the market today. Using cold to treat pain helps to decrease inflammation, numb the nerves, and ease pain. It is very similar to the Inferno Wrap in design. It is snug, fits comfortably, and uses removable, freezeable gel packs, which can be re-used as many times as needed. Unlike so many other cold wraps, the remarkable gel used inside the "Freezie" Cold Compression Wrap is designed to stay in one place, instead of shifting away from the area you're trying to apply it to.
